(I got that one)

A2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.
(nearly got that one correct, but i didn’t)
A3. The kid filled a glass of water and held it over his head for 10 minutes.
(i got it )

A4. Colour and Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

A9. If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST person?!
(i got that one, but i have another answer too…if i overtake the last one,I’m first; if the running track is circular and runners should run several times the whole track to achieve a specific distance, the first can overtake the last!)

A10. Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100. Don’t believe it? Check with your calculator!

Q1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms: The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven’t eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

Q2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

Q3. A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, “that’s nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no type of equipment or air pockets!” The magician told the kid if he could do that, he’d give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?

Q4. There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

Q5. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and grey when you throw it away?

Q6. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

Q7. This is an unusual paragraph. I’m curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!

Q8. You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?

Q9. If you overtake the last person, then you are…?

Q10. (in your head!) Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10. What is the total?

Q11. Mary’s father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?

A bit of running…invisibility !

Posted by roushdat on June 28, 2007

Hawooooooooooooo…..pff influenced by the spartans’ war cry from 300 movie…Was a nice movie…wanted to watch that since I read the blog post from sundeep which he made on April 29th.

Sound quality wasn’t that good though + it seemed that i was surrounded by Spartan Soldiers watching along…they were also shouting hawoooooooo :S

Oh yeah in the morning, the was also a treasure hunt…which it seemed…there were leakages beforehand, thus it wasn’t fair…(but as usual, without proofs, nothing that be done)

As for my team…well initially we planned to have the minimum number of team members, that is 3 members, while most of the other teams had the maximum of 5. (not that we wanted the minimum, but we didn’t get any more members ).

And this morning, booom, 1 team member is suffering terribly at home :S Sabotage I guess! That’s the cost to pay when you are a member of the presidential team, you get many enemies.

But we didn’t give up though…we decided to go for it even with only 2 members, Ashika and I. And obviously before several teams of well-organised, well-tipped members, we stood no chance, but still we went for it. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s tiresome to watch 2 moviez :S

Posted by roushdat on June 26, 2007

Ok…first out of 3 movie-days over!

Pirates started around 10 am to end at about 12:30 (no break in between)

Fool n Final began at 1pm and was nearing it’s end around 2:55….(I left at that time cause my bus was scheduled at 3pm)

Pirates 3

Hmm seemed most of those interested to watch pirates had already done so in cinema since more than 1 week…(I was at the cine too for that).

And contributing to that, the broadcast time: morning…and during holidays, some people prefer sleeping :p

As a result, about 1/3 of the number of seats were occupied.

Image quality was acceptable, also the screen size was rather smaller than cine…(we can understand that, cause it’s not the same broadcasting equipment anyway)

The sound quality was quite poor (some people who were there can confirm that?). Some of the talks were not clearly audible, and was worsen by the background noise from watchers….they kept mumbling and when they laugh, they successfully suppress the movie’s sound for some seconds…

Overall, It was a nice watch!

Fool n Final

Seems many more people were interested with that one compared to pirates 3….strange :S I thought pirates would have more audience…Slightly more that 2/3 of the seats were taken up.

The movie seemed to freeze at times for about 1 second…but some people may not have noticed that because scenes are originally swapped in the movie by freezing the current image, showing some pictures, and chaining with another picture which begins to play. Thus when there is a problem in the movie…you will tend to think that it’s normal ;)

Sound quality was a little bit better than that of pirates, sure, we still don’t have anything like Dolby surround and all :p At times the volume went up…at times it went a bit down…but that’s ok ;)

I laughed a lot watching that one, till my belly pained and tears rolled down. And at times i laughed not because of the movie but because others are laughing :p

Now get ready for tomorrow’s Les Yeux de la colline and Tararumpum

Small Update: For  Pirates 3, after the credits at the end of the movie, there is a hidden piece of movie which most of us miss…(It wasn’t played when i was in cine, nor was it played today at UOM). I got it from youtube, quality is not that nice, but better this than nothing.

10 years later, Elizabeth Swan has a 9 years 3 month old kid, and they watch their husband and dad coming home :)

Life as a future president…

Posted by roushdat on June 25, 2007

Greetingz my dearest people, as always it’s with a bottle-neck enthusiasm that I will drive you through yet another day of the future world president who is none other than myself ;)

If you are not aware till now, then know it: The future world president enjoyz holidayz as just like any other and he does go out, be it with friends or alone and also travels by bus mind you (saving energy and money!) :p

Today I had planned some shopping at shoprite and the other shops…

On the list:

  • Birthday Cards
  • Birthday gifts
  • A saw for cutting wood
  • A bevel

But when mum heard that I was going for shopping, obviously she needed a few things too, so needed dad…(despite that they had shopped yesterday itself)

They needed:

  • Flora and Tara butter (are these 2 sisters?)
  • Long nose pliers
  • side cutting pliers

During my bus travel something strange happened!

The conductor came…I showed by free-travel pass, and he told me it’s already expired since 15th of june…Uhhh expired??? No way, I argued that it expires in August!!! Finally he had to agree about the expiry but said that I will have to pay for student (3/4) because the semester is over since 15th of june. (yeah he was right, i knew it before the argument anyway…but it doesn’t feel nice to travel without the small talk ) But that’s not the strange thing!!! As soon as I paid him…He handed me the ticket + a small-sized picture of me…(that i used when i was in form 3- secondary school)…

My picture…handed to me :S

By a bus conductor who i didn’t know

A picture I used more than 6 years ago

Seems the bus company kept my picture that long

I’ve changed a lot since then, how this conductor knew that it’s me?

Did he want to tell me something by handing my picture to me?

Was I on some kind of black list ?

Whatever…that’s normal for a future president I guess, some friendlies and some enemies, where enemies of my enemies are not necessarily friendlies…conspiracies hatched…traitors uncovered.

So…finally reached shoprite, it was around 11:45am…and hunger was battling me :S

A quick zinger meal before shopping never killed any president yet huh? (fortunately I’ve not brought any zinger pic to be published today )

Ok let’s have a look at my saw, bevel and rubber mall:

The saw…for cutting wood, costed me R245

Hmm, fear not, am not going to tell you : go to cinema…But I’ve got an alternative and it’s free!

Yes, ladies and gents, as from this tuesday, 26th of June 2007, some movies are going to be played at the Octave Wiehe Auditorium, University of Mauritius, Reduit. It’s gonna be on a quite large screen…(RGB Projector i guess)

The timings are as follows:

  2. pirates 3pirates3.jpg

Wednesday

  1. coillon COUILLON Colline de yeux (I’ve never heard about this name…I guess it’s a mistake,I’ll edit it as soon as i receive the proper name)
  2. tararumpumtrrp.jpg

Thursday

  1. Spiderman 3 or 300spiderman3-blacksuit.jpg300_cover.jpg

The 2 daily movies are at 9:30am and 1:00pm. (I’ll have to confirm on the ordering).

As for Thursday, there will be only 1 movie…WHY???

cause on Thursday 28th there’s gonna be a treasure hunt at the university! Teams should consist of 3 to 5 members each. More details about it coming soon…it’s already posted on the campus i guess…Will have a look on monday or tuesday and let you know :)

As closing note: These activities are brought to you by: ISS (not the international space station but rather the “Information System Society” ) It’s like a club…they invite uom students to become members, but only students who do IS can be candidates for Executive positions..(not fair…). Don’t know if Student Union is also collaborating in the activities…If any1 among you know…shout!

Spiderman 4 is out!

Posted by roushdat on June 21, 2007

well…it’s not a movie yet, but the spider is ready! Since some time I’ve been noticing a quite new breed of spiders at my place, they spawn rather large webs and have orange-black-colored legs.
Here’s a shot of one of these nice looking…(i know not insects, is that arachids? arachnids?)
spider2
Above, you see the spider with some insects caught up in the web and which seem to have already been preserved by the spider for later consumption.

Ok,let’s have a close shot of it now…
spider
Marvellous isn’t it? Well I’ve set its name as: Orangita (cause of the orange colour). I don’t know much about this specimen…If anyone of you knows, well let me know :D

Some answerz for some questionz

Posted by roushdat on June 20, 2007

I was stumbling here and there this morning and I came across a webpage entitled:Too many questions…It contained a long list of questions who at times when our minds are idle, we tend to ask.

And many a times, we can ponder on these petty questions for quite a long time, hours, days,or even your whole life without obtaining a satisfying answers. And when you try to ask someone else’s….(better avoid), they will simply label you as stupid, fool (to manque rol!) . But however, the truth is out there surely!

So I’ll take 10 questions from that page and will give you my own answers. Of course, you can have your own answers too ;)

  1. Why are pizza boxes square when the pizza is round?
  2. Hmm, firstly this is because square boxes are made more easily, without the need to do elaborate curved cuts. And if you were not aware, these boxes are not boxes until one of them is needed to package a pizza. They are stored as cut-out sheets of cardboard to save space. Honestly I would have preferred the question the other way round: Why are pizza round when the boxes are square… (at home mum makes xtra-large rectangular pizza anyway :p)…I guess the one being sold is round simply to facilitate the near-equal portion cut-outs ;)

  3. Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?
  4. Hmm…cause the freezer is usually higher up, and thus nearer to the sun, gaining better enlightment…wait a minute, this thing is kept indoors huh? Well…nearer to whatever source of light you in that room then :p On the other hand, in freezers, mostly meat, chicks and fish are kept…You need not see properly to pick out what you need, just feel their layouts and use your nose to sniff ;)

  5. Don’t you find it worrying that doctors call treating you their “practice” ?
  6. Indeed, I’m very disturbed by this fact…they are becoming better and better through practice but they are using us as guinea pigs :S And the doctors are not alone…I think lawyers also practice uh??? Next time you go to a doctor or a lawyer…beware!

  7. In France do people just ask for toast and get French toast? or do they have to ask for American toast?
  8. Don’t know…but surely the americans will ask for their french fries :p Luckily in mauritius, we need simply to ask for “chips”….Can’t we put that as “Roushdat chips”? no no, i mean “roushdat zingerz”. I still remember when france refused to accompany Bush in his war, the americans proved themselves so stupid by renaming the “french fries” :P And they felt better :p

  9. Why is it called a “drive through” if you have to stop?
  10. I’ll ask that one to the guy at KFC’s drive through next time…Wouldn’t it be nice to drive through the “drive-through” at 100km/h and som1 throwing some zingers into your car ;) ??? Read the rest of this entry »

Traveling allowance for police officers!

Posted by roushdat on June 16, 2007

I was traveling to university on thursday by bus…when a police officer came to sit next to me…

At that moment I felt as if the president traveling with his bodyguard ;) But my heart broke when the bus conductor walked by…my bodyguard was so poor, he couldn’t afford the bus ticket :( and the conductor noticing the president next to him had mercy and went away…

LIES!!!

Most police officers have the bad habit not to pay while traveling by bus! The government include a traveling allowance in their salary and they are required to pay for these kind of services just like everybody!

I will take this opportunity to make you aware that most of the time when you see a policeman in a bus, he’s not on duty!!! He is simply either going to his place of work or returning home just like any public servant will do.

Another reason which has surely contributed to that bad habit: Fear

uh…not the police officer himself, but the bus conductors…they fear that in case they take money from that officer, soon the latter will have his revenge by stopping the bus next time and stick some fines…

In addition to that, there is also the false impression by bus conductors that in case he does not charge the policeman, the latter and his colleagues will have mercy upon them next time they are carrying some extra passengers.

At times, I’ve noticed some hesitant, new police officers in the bus…they take out the money, and as if they are shy to show it clearly. When the conductor walk near them, they just show a small bit of the money and as soon as the conductor continues walking, they pocket their money immediately (woooow i’ve saved my traveling allowance!!!). And surely, after some time, getting used not to pay, they won’t even take out the money!

So, what I ask you people, let’s change this! We should encourage bus conductors to charge the police guyz!

You, police officer, when you are not on duty, why do you have to show that you are a police officer??? Can’t you wear some normal shirt, and change yourself at your place of work??? Or is it that you do it on purpose to enjoy privileges???

I’m amazed that this bad habit is not published in any mauritian newspaper…Can someone do that? Or it’s not allowed by law to criticize the bad habits of policemen?

There are so many things about these guyz in blue with their caps…I’ll talk about it later.
