Moments away from getting suspended, conductor receives the presidential pardon!
Posted by roushdat on September 18, 2007
By God’s grace, upon mum’s request, I have forgiven him if and only if his plea from forgiveness was a sincere one.
Well, last night itself when I returned from prayers, the conductor was standing outside my house, waiting. Mum didn’t open the door as the keys was with me.Through the window he was giving his own modified versions of what happened. At that time, the police was already looking for him to warn him about the complaint against him (or his brother more specifically…I’ll come to this part soon)
I asked him to get inside and have a seat. The battle could begin! I calmly asked him what happened? To which he immediately switched to the defensive and started to deny that he used an abusive language and that it was me inventing stuffs, hearing things that weren’t said :S Well, fine, I said I’m not lying, he also says he’s not lying, that’s ok then, let the law of justice decide who the liar!
Oh no…he can’t accept that :p Because he knows he was about to get screwed up easily considering his turbulent past history
Oh yeah, in a village like LEscalier, privacy, specially when u do something wrong, exists no more! From several people, we have received information that this very conductor used to work for the NTC bus service, and was kicked out
That’s not all, many usual bus travelers have already got into hard talks with him….But hey wait, this guy’s name is not his!!! The bus company got his brother’s name instead of his on their employees’ list…strange huh? Fortunately the police easily found out about this part!
Ok let’s come back to the battlefield. He was now a bit more desperate for me to forget about what happened and accept that he didn’t tell me anything. WHAT??? ARE YOU CRAZY??? Finally I proposed him something, he accepts whatever wrong he did, asked for forgiveness loud and clear, and make sure things like this doesn’t ever happen with him. Still he was not ready to give up, he would just keep repeating, “aller prend gagner, nou blier sa” and would put his hand forward to shake hands.
At that point, dad had already arrived and asked me to forgive. But no way, I had set my condition, I said I need a forgiveness from him loud and clear not merely “prend gagner” that’s not a game, no winner in here! After some time, he finally gave up and repeated after me his guilt acceptance plea and asking me to forgive him. At that point I forgave him with the hidden condition: May God bear witness if he is sincere!
Actually before his arrival at home, mum and I had already discussed his case and had already decided to forgive him, but I wanted him to understand the fact that his mistakes won’t be forever unpunished.
Points we considered:
- He is a family man and therefore got wife and children. If he loses his job, I will be punishing his whole family as well (they are innocent).
- His wife has got acute-stress problems, she’s the one who will suffer most in this case.
- We are in a holy month of fasting, it is a good thing to forgive during this month.
As for the police complaint I filed…well that’s out of my hands right now, from what I’ve been informed, there is a high probability that he will be fined for misconduct in bus with a passenger.(Whether I’ve forgiven him or not). Seems that the one who threatened me that I will have to pay big fines is the one who will pay…
But at least for the time being, we prevented his suspension order to get official by the bus company. Mum called the conductors boss this morning at 8am and asked him to forgive the conductor this time. The latter replied that, would it have been some minutes later, the already-prepared suspension letter would have been handed to the conductor!
The whole thing is not over yet, let’s see what happens about the police case now

It was very noble to forgive him, especially in this holy month.;) You did the right thing! The bus conductor made a mistake and I hope he feels some guilt and repents. And never repeat this behavior on any other passenger.
